March 2015

Hello,
March is right around the corner!  Hopefully the weather will begin warming up and spring will be on its way!  We can hope, right?  :)  Below you will find more information about our March themes and other events that will be taking place.

March 2-5: Dr. Seuss and Rhyming
*This week we will read many Dr. Seuss books and continue to talk about rhyming.  We will make many fun projects including a Cat in the Hat headband and Thing 1 and Thing 2.
*We will be learning about letter Rr.
*We will be reviewing number 4.
*The Swimming FBI slips are due on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.  
*Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences are from 3:45-6:30 PM on Thursday, March 5th.  These conferences are only for those requested by a parent or teacher.


March 9-12: Zoo
*This week we will be learning about animals that live in a zoo.
*We will be learning about letter Zz.
*We will be reviewing number 5.
*March's family project, The Rhyming Chart, is due back on Monday and Tuesday of this week.
*The Special Education Advisory Council is offering a Family Day Snowshoeing Event on Tuesday, March 10th from 4-5:40 PM.  Families will meet at MAES and will snowshoe on the Kuse Nature Preserve.  Cookies and hot chocolate will be provided!  You are welcome to bring along your own snowshoes or some can be provided for you.


March 16-19: St. Patrick's Day
*This week we be learning about St. Patrick's Day by making leprechaun projects and by talking about shamrocks and luck.  I wonder if that quick and quiet leprechaun will visit our classroom!?!?!
*We will be learning about letter Qq.
*We will be reviewing number 6.
*There is an EARLY RELEASE day on Tuesday, March 17th.  Students will be dismissed at 1:52 PM.
*March's Families Being Involved workshop will be held on Friday, March 20th from 1:30-2:30 PM at the MASH pool!  Students and families are invited in for an hour of swimming and pool fun!
March 23- April 2: Easter
*Easter will be a two week theme.  During these weeks we will make spring and Easter projects, play a fun Easter memory game, and share our own experiences about Easter.
*We will be learning about letters Bb and Ee.
*We will be reviewing numbers 7 and 8.
*Information about April's Families Being Involved workshop will be coming home and will be due back before Easter break.  We will be having a pot luck dinner and dance!
*There is NO SCHOOL for all students Thursday, April 2 - Monday, April 6th due to teacher inservice and Easter break.  School will resume on Tuesday, April 7th.  HAPPY EASTER!!!

February 2015

Greetings Pre-K Families,
I can't believe how fast the first semester has come and gone!  Report cards were sent home last week in your child's folder and are yours to keep.  February is a fun and exciting month in Pre-K.  We will be taking our very first field trip and will have a celebration in honor of Valentine's Day.  What fun!!  More information about our themes and days at school can be found below.  

February 2-6: Dinosaurs
*This week is a continuation of "Dinosaurs."  We will be heading to The Broadway Theatre on Wednesday and Thursday mornings for our first field trip.  We will be watching "Ice Age, Dawn of the Dinosaurs" and enjoying a snack of popcorn and a drink!
*We will be learning about letter Oo.
*Our number this week is 10.
*February's family project will be sent home this week.  Please be sure to return it by the deadline!


February 9-13: Valentine's Day
*This week our theme is "Valentine's Day."  We will be making many projects out of hearts!
*We will be learning about letter Vv.
*Our 2nd fluoride varnish will take place on Monday and Tuesday.
*February's family project is due on Monday and Tuesday.
*We will begin reviewing numbers and this week will review number 1.
*Our Valentine's Day parties will be on Wednesday and Thursday in the afternoon.  Your child is invited to bring in a treat/valentines to share with his/her classmates.  Please know this is not a requirement.  


February 16-20: Arctic Animals
*Our theme this week is "Arctic Animals."  We will learn which animals live in the arctic, what the weather is like in the arctic and will make a fun penguin project!
*We will be learning about letter Pp.
*We will review number 2.
*February's Families Being Involved slips will be sent home this week!
*There is an EARLY RELEASE day scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 19th.
*There is NO SCHOOL on Friday, February 20th for all grades.


February 23-27: Nursery Rhymes/Rhyming:
*Our theme will be "Nursery Rhymes and Rhyming."  We will be doing many rhyming activities during our days at school.  Please continue to practice finding rhyming items at home.  :)
*We will be learning about letter Nn.
*We will review number 3.
*February's Families Being Involved slips are due on Monday and Tuesday of this week!  The FBI will be Friday, Feb. 27th at 1:15 PM at SES.  We will be watching a movie!  Each family will get a bag of popcorn, but feel free to bring other snacks and drinks!  You may also bring chairs or blankets as we will be in the gym.
