This week in Pre-K we will be learning about dental health. Monday and Tuesday we will make lists of good vs. bad things for our teeth, have an exciting conversation about the toothpaste we use :) and learn about things we can eat to make our teeth healthy and strong. Our letter this week is "Xx" and we will be talking about items/objects that END with the letter Xx, such as ox, fox and box. Please practice the /ks/ sound with your child, as it seems like many children find this sound hard to remember.
Valentine's Day is just around the corner and this means we will be having a Valentine's Day celebration on Wednesday, February 13th and Thursday, February 14th. Your child may choose to bring valentines in for his/her friends but it is not a requirement. Please remember that we have a severe peanut allergy in our classroom, therefore any food items must be purchased and in the original packaging. Your child will have more information on our Valentine's Day party in his/her folder Monday and Tuesday.

ReplyDeleteI am also a kindergarten teacher and resident of the California area. It's especially critical to promote good dental habits early to ensure our children build strong, healthy teeth as adults. With the recent budget cuts for dental programs here and throughout the US, it's every parent's duty to increase their children's dental care awareness. As a way to spice up the curriculum, I recently took my students on a field trip to tour a local monrovia dental facility. They helped teach the kids great habits such as brushing, flossing, and eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. They really enjoyed the tour! Keep up the great work!
