Polar Animals

Greetings,

This week we are talking about polar animals such as penguins, polar bears and walruses.  We will discuss the living conditions of these animals as well as things they eat and how their bodies keep warm in the cold weather.  Our letter of the week is "Pp."  Please help your child write this letter and search for items that begin with "Pp" around your house.  We continue to work on name writing in the classroom.  Please take a few moments to watch your child write his/her name.

Here are a few things to ask yourself:
- Is the first letter of the name a capital letter?
- Are the rest of the letters lower case?
- Is my child properly forming the letters: starting at the top vs. starting at the bottom?

We appreciate any help at home that we can get.  It really helps your child since they are only here two days a week!  This week begins our review of the numbers 1-10.  You will find homework that will help your child write and recognize the numbers for the next few months.

As stated in the Classroom News, all Pre-K classrooms are testing Quarter 2 Benchmarks and Skills.  We also retest the children throughout the year to keep track of the progress they are making.  I have tested both groups on letter recognition and the amount of growth since the beginning of the school year is AMAZING!

Our next theme is Games!  This theme will be TONS of fun as we will have high school and middle school students coming to play games with us!  We hope to teach sportsmanship, listening skills, direction following and being team players!

Have a GREAT week,
Ms. Brittany
